SMRTL is located in South Jordan, Utah operating in over 30,000 square feet of space devoted to anti-doping testing and research. SMRTL relocated to a newly built facility in 2020 to meet the laboratory’s specific requirements and designed in such a manner as to complement the flow of samples through the testing process. The facility is divided into seven general areas: sample receiving, sample storage, sample preparation, instrument laboratory, data review, administrative offices, and record storage.
SMRTL utilizes a broad range of analytical techniques and instrumentation to meet its clients’ demands for urine and blood testing. The laboratory’s capabilities include immunoassay, gas chromatography mass spectrometry (GC/MS), liquid chromatography mass spectrometry (LC/MS), isotope ratio mass spectrometry (IRMS), gel electrophoresis, and bio and chemiluminescence.
